2023 AYSO Coaches

All new AND returning coaches MUST be registered as 2023 volunteers & up to date on training requirements/ certifications. To see your "volunteer status" & list of certifications, go to the home screen Dashboard in your inLeague account HERE. 

COACH CHECKLIST:
1- Registered as a 2023 Volunteer on inLeague
2- Background Check (NOTE: annual requirement - you will receive an email from Sterling Volunteers before expiration)
3- Safe Haven
4- CDC Concussion (NOTE: If you completed BEFORE 2020, you will need to take updated course)
5- Sudden Cardiac Arrest
6- SafeSport (NOTE: annual update required - If you completed last season, you will only need to complete the shorter "refresher" course)
7- LiveScan Fingerprinting - Only required for Coaches in divisions 9U/10 & Older - SEE LIVESCAN INSTRUCTIONS HERE - (NOTE: This MUST be done through AYSO - LiveScans through other organizations do NOT transfer over)
8- Coach Certification (for the Division you will be coaching - as listed below)

• 6U Division (2018 birthyear) - 6U Coach Certification
  
• 7U/8U Division (2017/2016 birthyear) - 8U Coach Certification
• 9U/10U Division (2015/2014 birthyear) - 10U Coach Certification
• 12U Division (2013/2012 birthyear) - 12U Coach Certification
• *14U Division (2011/2010 birthyear) - Intermediate Coach Certification
• **16U Division (2009/2008 birthyear) - Advanced Coach Certification
• **19U Division (2007/2006/2005 birthyear) - Advanced Coach Certification

STEPS TO BECOME A COACH

STEP 1
Register as a 2023 VOLUNTEER in AYSO 78 Hollywood for MY2023–make sure to check the “coach” role!

1. Go to the “InLeague site” https://ayso78.inleague.org/

2. Log in by entering your email address and password.

3. Click “Volunteer Registration” button and then click “Fall 2023” button.

4. Complete the registration form.  Make sure you use your full LEGAL name; no abbreviations or nicknames.

5. Under volunteer preferences, check all applicable boxes.  Be sure and check “Coach” so you receive our important emails. Be sure to scroll all the way down and click “Submit Volunteer Preferences”

6. Then sign off on the “Disclosure” page.

7. Annual background checks are required for ADULT volunteers. Volunteers (18 & older) should be on the lookout for an email from our background check people at “Sterling Volunteers.” Their email will need a response. (Careful to check spam/junk.)

8. That’s it!  You are enrolled as a Volunteer in AYSO 78 Hollywood.

STEP 2-
Complete Coach Training

1. Log into InLeague using your email and password. Go to eTrainU by clicking on the “Graduation cap” icon in the upper right corner of your home page

2. Click the “Training Library” icon on the left

3. Click on "Coaching Courses"

4. Click "VIEW COURSES" under the "Coaching" category

5. Click on the Coach Course for the Division you will be coaching (see above for birthyear breakdown). Many of the courses contain an "online" or "part 1' that you can complete at your leisure. If you can’t complete them in one sitting, you can always go back in to eTrainU and look under “My Training” to resume where you left off.

6. Enroll and attend the in the in-person classroom session. This is either listed  a "full course" or "part 2". When you click "Enroll", it will take you to the "Training Event" page to search for a local training. PLEASE make sure to read the course description & instructions carefully as they may require certain prerequisites ahead of time (including the Safety Courses listed in "Step 3"). IMPORTANT SEARCH TIP: There are 3 search filters (region/ location/ name of course)...it defaults to "Region 78" so you'll want to delete that so you are searching all regions. Also, make sure to search by location distance...otherwise it will search AYSO nationwide.

7. Once you complete the in-person session, email us to let us know so that we can follow-up to make sure certifications are processed.

STEP 3-
Take AYSO’s Safety Courses (If you have not already done so, you will need to take AYSO’s Safe Haven, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, Safe Sport, and the CDC Concussion Awareness courses. Also, for coaches (9U & above), LiveScan through AYSO is REQUIRED. They are offered through AYSO’s learning platform at “eTrainU”). NOTE: Safe Sport is NOT required by YOUTH volunteers, but is required annually with the “Refresher” course” for all ADULT volunteers.

1. Log into InLeague using your email and password. Go to eTrainU by clicking on the “Graduation cap” icon in the upper right corner of your home page

2. Click the “Training Library” icon

3. Click Safe Haven “view courses”

4. Take the following courses online: 1) AYSO’s Safe Haven – Online, 2) CDC Concussion Awareness – Online, 3) Sudden Cardiac Arrest – Online, 4) Safe Sport. 

5. Work your way through each module (including any test at the end).

6. For coaches (9U & above), LiveScan fingerprinting is required - SEE LIVESCAN INSTRUCTIONS HERE
